French Hood Images

View of Lady Parker Sketch

Portrait of The Lady Parker, a sketch by Hans Holbein the Younger, c. 1540.

The only head forward image I have seen of a woman wearing a French hood. While it is too early to tell from my experiments, the rise of the back of the French hood seems to match my front view image of my pattern mockup. Also note the goffering shown here. I also note how slender the back veil appears here.

Black and white image from Early Tudor 1485-1558 (Costume of the Western World) by James Laver (1951), Plate 39. George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd., London, W.C., Great Britain.
