Detail of Anne of Bretagne at Confession

Anne of Bretagne at Confession (folio 10v, left) from the Prayer Book of Anne of Bretagne, by Jean Poyet, c. 1500.

"Poyet paints Anne wearing the Breton cap, which signified her ties to her homeland of Brittanny."

I wonder if this cap is a forerunner to the French hood, or a nationally different style of hood?
