Man's Blue Velvet Henrician Ensemble:

Back Detail of Breeches

A detailed view of the back of the breeches. Hook & eyes can be seen for the front closure, 'tho they were later removed, and a modern zipper put in place for modesty's sake, and for my client's own ease. The triple back seam is seen in various images of peasants and in surviving garments, and was believed to be commonly used during the sixteenth century. The breeches are cut on the bias, and these are the only seams used. The waist is at the client's true waist; where he bends.
