Men's Garment Myths

Myth: Men's' clothing should fit like today's garments, loose, baggy and hang off the hips.

Doublets should be tight fitting to the body, not loose like with modern jackets. Think body hugging vests, not potato sacks. The waistline is at actual waist at side and back, Peascod style slopes down over the belly, and is meant to emphasise the stomach.

True Art of Defense, Giacomo di Grassi, 1594
